The Eye Gate – The Lamp Of The Body

The Eye Gate – The Lamp Of The Body

Beloved, if this is your first time reading this blog I would like to ask you to first go back to the post on “Let the Light in” before reading further.

For those that have been walking with me from the beginning of this series on cleansing our gates, I salute you! Well done for sticking in there and for becoming mindful of the way you look at things around you. Well done for getting heavens perspective on things and not look with your physical eyes at what you see. May you keep at it even when we carry on to the next gate.

Our scripture verse for this week is Matthew 6:22 The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.

Explanation

The meaning for “the eye is the lamp of the body” – The eye controls what goes into us. Therefore the eye is the window that allows either evil or good into us and this affects our whole being. A persons eyes can easily become contaminated by what it is focused upon. By allowing ourselves to look at things that are in contradiction to Gods Word our windows get dirty and our beings get filled with darkness.

“If your eyes are healthy, your body will be full of light”Body in this sense speaks of your whole being YOU AS A PERSON. If our windows are clean, our beings are filled with purity.

This verse speaks about what we allow our eyes to focus upon and how it will affect our whole being. If we look upon good or evil we can either carry light or darkness in our beings. This means that what we allow ourselves to focus on will have an affect on our conduct. Our BEHAVIORS will be influenced by what we BEHOLD (we look at).

What do we behold? What do we hook our eyes upon? What is the condition of our windows and our beings (the whole of me)? Do we experience light and life in our beings? If not, serious introspection is needed and then repentance and cleansing.

One example of how our beings can become defiled is when we are watching soap operas. Over the long run it can influence one so much that you start living the way that is portrayed in the story. How many of us as woman have watched soap operas and have been brain washed by looking at the way the men pursues the women: it looks so romantic and beautiful to us. We get emotionally invested in the love story and we start modeling this way of living in our daily lives with our husbands or boyfriends. We then start expecting them to behave the same way the soap operas dictate. The problem is that we then get disappointed because they are not romantic like what we see in the soap operas. We start comparing them with the guys in the stories and we become bitter because they are not doing what we have seen. This is a false image! Investing our emotions in things like this can easily affect our expectations and behaviors towards our loved ones in a destructive way.

This is the outflow of what your eyes looked upon and the affect it has on your whole being (behavior). Your windows are dirty because your eyes are hooked into the wrong place. We have to look at Gods Word on what Godly husbands should behave like and not look to the world for answers.

This is only one example, but there are many other things that we model in our daily lives that comes from what we see on television, media or see from unbelievers. Let us not conform to the ways of this world because our eyes are looking in the wrong place.

Beloveds, let us not only read this but let us start rejecting the things that we know will make us stumble. Let us give up on those soap operas, the books filled with love stories, Instagram or Tik Tok that paints an amazing picture of life but behind the scenes it is a different story. Go and look at Song of songs in the Bible about what a Godly relationship looks like. The Word of God is filled with everything you need for life and Godliness. I think it is time for us to return to the Word of God and get acquainted with Him again. Let us hook our eyes into the bread of life, Jesus our Savior.

Bread of Life Prayer

Returning to the Word of God

Father we come before You on the ground of our covenant with You. I include everyone in my family -, bloodline, seed line and the body of Christ in this prayer. I declare the following according to Your Word in John 6:35 which states; Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to Me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst.

Father we acknowledge the state of our spirits, souls, and bodies before You, we know that there are still many areas covered in darkness and we acknowledge that we are hungry and dry because we have been eating from the bread of the world which is packed with death. We have been feeding on what the news, the media and the voices of darkness are speaking. We have lost sight of You, the bread of life, relying and trusting on that which we are fed by the world. I trade and come in agreement with John 6:51 where Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”

You’re all empowering, Life giving, sustaining, healing, You are love, hope and mercy. I ask that You bring us back to life. Every area that has died because of eating from darkness, fill it with life again in the name of Jesus. I ask that Your life-light will start to flood our beings once again. Thank You for the flood of life released into every cell, DNA strand, our senses, organs, brains, and everything else pertaining to our spirits, souls, and bodies in the name of Jesus. I ask that we will be filled with true Life and Light, which is Jesus the Christ who came in the flesh and who died for our sins at Calvary.

Father I acknowledge that we don’t know You because we have been neglecting Your Word which is our daily bread. Our days are filled with heaviness because we are not upheld and sustained by You, our daily bread that gives life to us. Please forgive us for our neglect, for our numbness, for our lethargy and apathy in this area. Please forgive us for keeping ourselves busy with reading things of the world but we can’t even sit for five minutes to read Your Word. Forgive us for feeding off that which is useless and not life giving. We renounce and denounce eating from the bread of death in the name of Jesus. I ask that the blood of Jesus Christ will cleanse us and remove the lethargy and apathy that have come upon us in the name of Jesus. Father I give up this way of living, this way of feeding off darkness and I come in agreement with Philippians 2:16 which states “holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.” Father, I am choosing to hold fast to the Word of life in the name of Jesus. John 1:4 states that In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. Father, please restore the Light of Your Word in us in the name of Jesus.

Father, I repent and take full responsibility for walking in paths that lead to destruction, for looking at and agreeing with the world’s point of view, for allowing the world to dictate to me how I should live, behave, and think. I choose to return to my daily bread, Your Word that is life to me. I come in agreement with the following scriptures, and I declare it over myself and everyone I am standing in for in the name of Jesus.

Psalm 119:105 Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Father, please forgive us for only reading or hearing Your Word but not living it. Please convict our hearts in the name of Jesus every time we are deceived.

Luke 11:28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the Word of God and obey it.”

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God endures forever.

Matthew 7:24 Therefore everyone who hears these Words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will never pass away.

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will never pass away.

Psalm 33:4 For the Word of the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all He does.

Isaiah 55:11 so is My Word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

John 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The Words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.

Father, please help us to live according to what Your Word directs so that we can live lives worthy of You. Holy Spirit be our guide and lead us in paths of righteousness. We choose to look and eat from the Bread of life who will uphold us all the days of our lives! I pray this by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, in the name of Jesus.

Amen and amen

The Eye Gate – Looking Right On

The Eye Gate – Looking Right On

Beloveds, I pray you are sticking in there with cleansing your eye gate daily. For then you will start seeing what God sees and look past that which you see in the natural. I bless you with the strength and discipline you need to overcome in Jesus name.

Let us look at the next scripture.

Proverbs 4:25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.

What does it mean to look right on? Fixing your eyes unswervingly, steadily upon an object not allowing the gaze to deflect to the left or the right.

The object on which we set our eyes are then, the Word of Truth who is Jesus Christ.

What does eyelids look straight means? Do nothing rashly, but everything with premeditation; examine your conduct.

How do we examine our conduct? By weighing it against God’s word – keeping His precepts in mind.

So let us then add in the explanations to this scripture – Let thine eyes look (unswervingly, steadily, not looking to the left or the right) on (the Word of Truth, Jesus Christ), and let thine eyelids look straight (without doing anything rashly but premeditate and examine your conduct, weighing it against God’s precepts) before thee.

A Vision

I would like to share with you what I believe the Lord showed me this morning in my quiet time before I received this scripture for this post. I was looking at a spiritual battlefield from the top of a mountain. I looked at the forerunners at the front of the battle and I saw people fighting against a horde of demons. It was very interesting the way they fought. They were wielding their swords against the enemy but they were not looking at the demons that they were fighting against. They were busy reading scriptures from the Bible and they kept their eyes only on what they read. They didn’t for one moment take their eyes off of the Bible. The more they kept reading the more they could clear the path to walk further. All of a sudden I saw a huge wall in front of them and it was moving and trying to push them back. Then the forerunners started declaring the Majesty, Glory and splendor of God. They were declaring who God is! The moment they started doing this light filled the place and many angels were released that assisted the forerunners to push this wall back.

I believe that this is our message, we need to set our eyes only on the Word of God and in who He is. We will not overcome if we try to fight without His Word.

My beloved friend, are your eyes unswervingly, steadily upon the Word of Truth when you face trials or difficulties? Or do you look to the left or the right, struggling to keep Your eyes on Him? Do your eyelids look straight, do you first premeditate and watch your conduct before responding? Are your eyelids focused on Gods precepts? Where are your eyes at?

PRAYER

Father, I bring my eyes and eyelids before you by the blood of Jesus. Father, my eyes have wondered, I have not been looking at Jesus, the Word of Truth unswervingly. I have not kept my gaze steadily upon Jesus. I repent, I am guilty, I ask that You will forgive me for not looking at You, for looking to the left and the right, for getting overwhelmed and then be swallowed by doubt and fear. Father, I repent that my eyelids do not look straight, I do not keep Your precepts in mind, my conduct and behavior is of one that doesn’t know You. Please forgive me for not reading and focusing my eyes on Your Word and for allowing my eyes to look everywhere else but You for assistance when it goes tough. I rededicate my eyes and my eyelids to You in the name of Jesus. I ask that You will please remove all contamination of the world from me in the name of Jesus. I give You permission to once again fill my eyes and eyelids with Your light and truth in Jesus name. Jesus, I give this eye gate to You and I ask that You will please bring me to my senses. Holy Spirit, please remind me when I want to default to not keeping my gaze upon the Word of God.

Now, I turn my eyes upon Jesus,

I look full in His wonderful face.

And the things of the world will grow strangely dim.

In the light of His Glory and Grace.

This I pray in the precious name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Amen and amen.

The Eye Gate – Don’t Look At What You See

The Eye Gate – Don’t Look At What You See

Beloved, I hope you are challenging and pushing hard against yourself to get rid of the wrong learnt behaviors (according to the Word of God) that we don’t even realize we have because it has become part of us. It does require a whole lot of effort, but soon enough it will become second nature to reject that which is in contradiction with Gods Word. I salute you for sticking in there and for doing this for our King Jesus who we love so dearly.

Let us look then at the next scripture and keep rewiring our minds and eyes to look at things the way the Word of God directs.

2 Kings 6:17 And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Let me ask you this question. How do you look at difficulties/problems/trials and what do you really see? I am asking this because we all are falling short of staying in the Spirit, especially when we face heartache, financial pressure, children that are lost, sickness and disease etc. We tend to get so overwhelmed by what we see in the physical that we forget how to stay in the Spirit and look with our spiritual eyes.

If we do not look at what we see physically and we do not allow ourselves to be affected negatively by it, if we hook immediately into Jesus, then we will see things that doesn’t look at all like what we are physically seeing. This is where your spirit is seeing what God is actually saying about the situation.

The difficult part is to train yourself to immediately bring your eyes under the blood of Jesus and ask Holy Spirit to help you stay in the Spirit and not operate out of emotion that can lead you astray.

NUGGET

DO NOT LOOK AT WHAT YOU (physically) SEE! Especially when it is shocking or very negative.

THE DEVIL IS A LIER! God speaks a different Word!

I had to many times in difficult situations repeat to myself, don’t look at what you see. This helped me to focus on being mindful of asking God what I needed to do. I made sure to not agree with my emotions that were dictating to me how bad it was because of what my physical eyes saw.

The moment there is a negative or horrific thing you are facing – Call immediately upon Jesus and ask Him to open your eyes to really see what is happening in the spirit, just like it is written in 2 Kings 6:17

My Testimony

When our children were 3 and 5 years old we did not have any medical aid whatsoever. Our finances were tight and everything that needed medical attention had to be prayed through. This was my time where I have learnt what it truly meant not to look at what I see.

The one day after I was done homeschooling our daughter she stayed behind in our school room to play. I was outside doing some washing when I heard a horrific scream. I immediately started praying in my heavenly language because I knew I needed Jesus. The lady that was helping me ran out the door because she couldn’t handle the sight. A room divider fell over unto our daughter and its corner fell on her foot making a hole in it and blood gushed out of this hole. There was a blue line across her foot as well where it hit her. Prayerfully I cleaned the hole and wrapped her foot up. I then said to her that we will be trusting Jesus for healing and we will ask him to remove the pain. (We can get so emotionally wrapped up in our children’s pain that we forget to stay in the Spirit and rely on Gods help. We tend to immediately run to the help of the world. I couldn’t, I was forced to rely only on God because we did not have the means to go to the doctor). Our 3 year old son was standing with his little guitar strumming away and he said: “Mommy when there is trouble, we worship Jesus”. I asked him to do the worship while I was praying. As I was praying I saw a picture of the Lion of the tribe of Judah, and I asked the Lord to roar over her and drive away the enemy that was trying to torment her. Instantly, in that corner of the living room where we sat we heard a massive roaring of thunder outside. (It was clear blue sky that day, no rainy weather at all.) Our daughter immediately responded and said that Jesus, the Lion is roaring over her. We prayed over that hole in her foot and commanded it in the name of Jesus to close up. A half an hour later she said to me she wanted to take a bath and we must take the bandage off. I opened it and the blood stopped and there was no sight of a hole! The blue line across her foot was still there but there was no pain. How awesome is God. He encountered our little one. That day I had to push hard against not looking at what I saw with my physical eyes. If we had a medical aid it would’ve been easy to just get it sorted by the doctor. I wouldn’t have learnt to look at difficult situations with different eyes. How God loves us.

Another story

Our 3 year old son also had his own ordeal. He used to help his grandfather making breakfast most mornings. The one day grandfather just turned around for a second and our boy pressed his whole hand down unto the hot stove plate. There was instantly a colossal blister across the palm of his hand. I have never seen a blister that big. We knew how to look at the situation and we did not come in agreement with how bad and terrible it was. Although he cried for two hours, we prayed and worshipped for those two hours not giving up. At one stage when he calmed down I prayed and commanded that blister in the name of Jesus to dry up, the pain to go and to be gone within 2 days. Within 2 days the blister was open, the skin fell off and new skin grew over that wound. Yes, within two days! Another miracle!

I have many such stories where we had to look past what we physically saw and looked with our spiritual eyes. It is quite a battle at first , but sticking in there and not budging will bring forth great fruit. I am grateful to God for teaching me how to look with other eyes. We need to know that especially in difficult situations God always teaches us something. It is how we look and respond to what we see where we will either overcome or be defeated.

My beloved friend, what do you see when you face trials? Do you see the unseen (many times we have to stick in there and not let go until something happens, just like 2 hours later for me? Or do you see like Elisha’s servant saw in 2Kings 6:15 and he was afraid?

Let us then press on by training our eyes to see what Jesus sees in our difficult situations and not immediately be overwhelmed by what we physically see.

Let us pray: Abba Father, I am just like Elisha’s servant in 2 Kings 6:15 that saw all the horses and chariots around the city and got afraid. I repent and ask forgiveness for looking at what I see. Please forgive me for getting so emotionally overwhelmed that I forget that You speak a different Word. Please forgive me for not being mindful of You and how I ought to deal with difficulties. Please wash me and cleanse me with Your precious blood in the name of Jesus. Father, please forgive me for my first response that is to run to others for help. I repent that my eyes are defiled and full of horror, expecting and believing the worst when I see something bad happen. Please forgive me for giving over to the lies of the enemy in the name of Jesus. Holy Spirit I need your help, I need You to please take charge when I face difficulties, I ask that You would immediately come and remind me to ask You to open my eyes so that I won’t look at what I see but to what You see. Father, I ask for a cleansing of my eye gate in your blood, I rededicate my eyes to You and I ask like Elisha asked, open my eyes Lord that I might see in the name of Jesus. Let Your kingdom come in the way I look at difficulties in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth who came in the flesh. Amen and amen!
